Selena Gomez May Be Taking Miley Cyrus’ Spotlight on Disney?

Is the onscreen competition between Miley Cyrus and fellow tween Disney sensation Selena Gomez about to get real?
I’m told Disney executives are so worried about Cyrus’ recent controversies that, more than ever, they want to make Gomez an even bigger star.
The 15-year-old Gomez now stars in the Disney Channel hit Wizards of Waverly Place, but last year she appeared on two episodes of Hannah Montana as Mikayla, one of Hannah’s pop star rivals.
“Selena sings and acts and is really young,” a source reports. “She is going to be the next Miley Cyrus. [Disney executives] really want this.”
Next up for Gomez is the Warner Bros. movie Another Cinderella Story, scheduled for a fall release. No surprise, but I’ve just learned that Gomez has recorded several new songs for the flick.
“The studio has high hopes for this,” says my source.
But a Disney rep insists there are no plans to try and replace Cyrus in any way with Gomez.
“We are fortunate to work with a host of young actors and actresses who are each unique and making their own trajectory based on their talent,” the rep said via email this morning. “However, Wizards of Waverly Place is a bona fide hit with kids and families, and licensees and retailers are indeed interested in the series. As for Selena, she deserves all the success that’s coming her way.”
Note to Gomez: If Vanity Fair comes calling, wait a few years before calling them back.

No, she won’t be–Disney will. Don’t blame Selena. There’s this picture in another blog with a picture of Miley Cyrus in Drunken Stepfather.com. She looked pretty with her golden glitter eyeshadow but she’s funny because her eyes were closed and her mouth was open–I know she was singing but she looked like she had fallen asleep while performing on stage. LOL =) Anyway, Selena Gomez has a right to be welcomed in the world of Disney celebrities, but Disney has no visual right to fire Miley and replace her with Selena. Their both EQUALLY pretty and work EQUALLY hard…I admit Selena is prettier and has a better voice, but Disney should give Miley a chance to change. Just because she has nasty pictures in the internet doesn’t mean they’re true! People shouldn’t believe everything they hear or see on the internet. In fact, maybe this whole issue is not true; maybe Disney WON’T be replacing Miley with Selena. They should sit side by side on stage and sing their hearts out with friendship–ignoring the press!

If they’ll be rivals because Miley heard the whole buzz what about (or maybe she had heard before, she just couldn’t take it anymore), then people will be rivals too–one has her side with Selena, the other with Miley. After that people will stop watching Disney and whose fault is it? Disney’s!
